Install rea-agents from a community Homebrew tap
Not everyone wants `npx` forever. A community Homebrew formula packages `rea-agents` with checksums, bottles, and `rea --version` smoke tests — handy for macOS/Linux brew workflows.
What it is. MIT tap moonfruit/homebrew-tap containing Formula/rea-agents.rb. Snapshot reviewed: rea-agents 6.3.0 from registry.npmjs.org with sha256, Node dependency, platform binary pruning, and generated completions.
Relation to REA. Installs the same CLI/MCP entrypoints upstream publishes on npm. It is not Homebrew core and not an official REA release channel.
Workflow. brew tap moonfruit/tap (confirm current tap name in the repo) → brew install rea-agents → rea --version → still run rea setup / doctor for MCP clients and engines.
Evaluation. Clean packaging story. Re-check the formula version before pinning in CI; community bottles can lag npm latest.
Compliance
Community packaging of the MIT npm package; still your responsibility to use REA lawfully.
Takeaways
- Brew formula ≠ official channel.
- Still configure MCP clients after install.
- Pin formula revisions in CI after verifying sha256.
